Sketchbook - The Art Behind the Architecture

Every Fusch Architects project begins not with software or screens—but with a conversation. Each design journey starts at the drafting table with Robbie Fusch, where clients sit down with our team to share their vision, dreams, and the emotional story they want their home to tell. From that dialogue, Robbie begins to sketch—by hand, on the very same drafting table he’s used throughout his 40+ year career in classical architecture.

These initial hand-drawn studies are not just concept drawings—they are the architectural soul of each project. Through gesture, proportion, and artistry, Robbie captures the essence of the home before a single digital line is drawn. It is this hand delineation that gives every Fusch design its timeless character and authenticity.

Only after these sketches are refined and the architectural language is established do our projects move into the modern CAD and BIM environments for technical development and documentation. But it all begins with pencil on paper, guided by decades of experience and an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship.

This page offers a glimpse into Robbie’s sketchbook—an intimate look at the early, analog moments that shape our most iconic homes.
